Antzoulis Alexandratos

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Antzoulis Alexandratos on the morning of April 16, 2024. Antzoulis, Angelo to friends – Archie to those closest to him – was born February 25, 1933, on the Greek island of Kefalonia to Gerasimos and Eleni Alexandratos. Angelo was the youngest of four and he absolutely adored his siblings – Efrini (sister), Evangelios (brother), and Anna (sister).

Angelo didn’t discuss his early life too much. It could be because it was a rough period between losing his father during WW2 and the Great Ionian Earthquake which leveled almost the entire island of Kefalonia. Or it could be that he wasn’t one to dwell on the past too much. For him, the “good stuff” was just getting started.

In 1970, Angelo met and married Marina. They immediately emigrated to America in search of opportunity and a better life for the family they were about to start. They had two amazing children, Jerry and Elena.

If you asked Angelo what he loved, he would say his family. He adored his children. Even when they drove him bonkers! He absolutely spoiled his grandchildren, Alexander (Alex), Angelo (Angelo), Antzoulis (Zouli), and Areti (Tiki). The grandkids would joke that all they had to do was hug him to get a treat – a veritable Papou ATM!

He is survived by his cherished family including his son, Jerry, and daughter-in- law, Nicole, his daughter, Elena, and his beloved grandchildren, Alex, Angelo, Zouli, and Tiki.

He also loved to cook. When he would get the opportunity to cook for his family (especially the grandkids) and friends he was overjoyed. And he loved piling food on plates. His favorite dinner question was, “why you no eat?” if you didn’t eat enough.

Was it all fun and games (and food)? Of course not. Angelo was stubborn, old-fashioned, and at times obtuse. Did we mention stubborn? We really need to mention stubborn. But he was also generous, adoring, and loving. Which made everything okay. He was the happiest cranky person we knew. The world is a little smaller without him and his smile.

Your dad was always so great, especially putting up with all our shenanigans (“Why they only remember the dirty words?”)! I loved playing poker with him on NYE! I’m glad your mom finally has him back to fuss over though I’m sorry for the hole it leaves in your lives. May your memories give you comfort!
