Anne Vincent-Daviss Marsh

Anne Vincent-Daviss Marsh, 95, of Wilmington, Delaware died at Stonegates on April 16, 2026.

She was born in 1930, in Toronto, Canada to Laura Bradley and Cedric Arthur Vincent-Daviss, who had immigrated from England after their 1925 marriage. In 1931, her father was hired by the duPont Company and moved to Wilmington, where she lived all her life. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert, and her son, William.

After graduating from Wilmington Friends School, Anne attended Colby Junior College in New Hampshire. She met Robert William Marsh after graduating, and they married on March 31, 1952, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where Anne was a life-long member. They had four children in five years: Joan Grace Marsh, Barbara Anne Marsh Mammarella (Tom), Carol Daviss Marsh (Tim Fretz), and William Arthur.

Anne had seven grandchildren: Christopher Sparks, Caroline Sparks, Laura Mammarella, Lindsay Balceniuk, Brian Thomas Marsh Mammarella, Heather Walker, and Madalyn Simpson; and nine great-grandchildren: Leo, Kjell, Keira, Molly, Lily, Emma, Avery, Devin, and Reese.

Anne loved to be active and involved in the community. She was one of the first guides at the Nemours Estate, and she guided at Old Town Hall, George Read House, and Winterthur.

The passion of Anne’s life was raising and training German Shepherd dogs for obedience competitions. Beginning in 1968 with her first Shepherd, Trina, through her beloved last dog, Sage, she spent countless hours outdoors training and working with her dogs, several of whom won high honors on the obedience trial circuit. Anne and Bob registered their dogs with Therapy Dogs International, visiting Ronald McDonald House and Country House. Sage also went to the after-school program at Westminster Church where the children practiced reading aloud to her.

Anne will be interred in Lower Brandywine Cemetery next to her husband and son, and not far from her parents. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W. 13th Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.

I only had the pleasure of knowing Anne for a few years through my friendship with her daughter Joan. A strong woman of real dignity and a delight to speak with at Stonegates while visiting with Joan and her Grandpuppy Bess. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

    Jo Rohrman Wommack writes,
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Ann marsh at Stonegates retirement community. She never ever let anything get in the way of her achieving her goals even when she was quite ill. She would somehow manage to find energy to force herself to move. In my twenty five years of working in SNF Mrs.Marsh is by far the most determined soul I have ever met. She was my little engine that could. I absolutely adored her and will miss her dearly. My deepest condolences to her family and friends who will also miss this amazing woman.

Dear Joan and family, My condolences on the loss of your mother and grandmother. My mother LaVerne Weaver, also a longtime Westminster member, died in January of 2025. These servants of their community lived long and faithful lives, which I give many thanks for daily. It is sad to know that there are so few left of their generation. Peace be with you as you celebrate her life and remember Anne always, Deborah Meinke
