Alice Cynthia Grist

Alice Cynthia Grist, age 76, passed away on August 9, 2019 at Foulk Manor North in Wilmington, DE.

She was born in Melrose, MA in 1942 and grew up in the town of Buzzards Bay, the gateway to Cape Cod. She was a 1960 graduate of Bourne High School and a 1964 graduate of Framingham State Teachers College. She later received her Masters Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Alice worked for the Veterans Administration Nutrition and Food Services as a Chief Dietician. She retired with 32 years of service in Indianapolis, IN in December 1996. She then worked for the State of Indiana in the Public Library until she retired in 2009. She also was active in the Episcopal Anglican Church. In 2009, Alice moved back to the East Coast and settled in Selbyville, DE. In 2013, she moved to Wilmington for assisted living.

She enjoyed traveling, sewing and crafts, reading, her Hallmark Channel and, of course, baseball and football.

Alice always was quick to inform us on American history and the Bible. We will miss her sunny, bubbly personality and sense of humor.

She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Lillian Grist and sister, Cecily Greeley. She is survived by her brother, Arthur Kenneth Grist; sister-in-law, Hilda Grist; nephews, Kurt, James and Donald Grist and David Greeley; nieces, Lynne Ann Pickett; great-nieces, Anjuli Pickett, Katelyn, Chloe and Lyla Grist; and great-nephews, Colton, Samuel and Quinn Grist.

Please consider contributions in Alice’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.

I am so sorry for your loss. I helped take care of her when she was a resident at Harrison House. We would sit and talk all the time and I considered her a part of my family. She could always put a smile on my face and I tried to do the same for her. I miss her so much!
