Albert Lee Moran

Albert Lee Moran passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2019 in Wilmington, Delaware. He is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Rose Eileen “Posey.” He is survived by his children, Patrick (Tracy), Shawn (Robin), Kevin (Eileen) and Kathleen, and his grandchildren, Patrick, Stephen, Kelly, and Katie.

Albert was born on March 6, 1928 to Henry Leon and Harriet Moran in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in New Jersey and Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Al graduated from Fordham University, and subsequently received an MBA from Indiana University. After serving in the army during the Korean War, he worked for DuPont as a chemist for almost forty years. Al was a devote Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish for over sixty years.

Affectionately known by many who knew him as “Big Al,” he was involved in numerous charitable endeavors and he loved golf, tennis, and time spent at the beach. One of his most memorable moments was a hole-in-one at 79 years old while playing in Myrtle Beach with family and friends. Al was a passionate Notre Dame fan and attended many football games in South Bend. He traveled extensively, and especially loved visiting the green hillsides of Ireland.

A visitation will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Monday, January 28 from 10:00-11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00. Tod Baseden writes,
I worked with Al at Du Pont's Elastomers Laboratory for thirty five of his nearly forty years there. I knew him well and can remember Posey, the love of his life who he never forgot. Al was, perhaps, the most decent and honorable man I ever knew. I do not know you, his surviving family, but I can imagine and sympathize for the sorrow you must feel. May the memory of this good man continue to support you.

    Mary (Carmody) Yulo writes,
I'm am so sad as I write this. My Dad, Don Carmody, was trying to contact "Moran" for one last visit this coming weekend. His name came up so many times in January, and I told Dad I'd bring him down on Presidents Day weekend. He will be saddened with this news. Our sincere condolences and much love and happy memories from my Dad. They were in the Army together...both Fordham grads, both started at DuPont. Dad celebrated his 90th birthday in October.
