Alice Ann Stransky

Alice Ann Stransky died Saturday, November 26th, aged 96, in Wilmington, DE. She was born in Westerly, Rhode Island in 1926 and never quite lost that New England accent. She was a lifelong practitioner of the most difficult jobs, homemaker and mother. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Alice Ferrigno, siblings Bill and Betty (Elsey) and her beloved husband of 61 years Harold J. She is survived by her six children (see previous note about difficult jobs); John (Sherry), Peter (Jann), David (Cindy) and Martha of Wilmington, Michael (Mary Lou) of Belair, MD, and Bob (Marilyn) of Rehoboth Beach, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Small but mighty, she was an avid athlete, loved sports and played them, participating in golf, bowling and tennis leagues. A long-time member, she was the champion of her golf group at DuPont County Club multiple times.
In lieu of flowers, to honor her open-hearted spirit, the family asks that contributions be made to either your favorite charity or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

You have our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your mom. She sent us a letter after your dad died. I wish we had known her. But in her letter she sounded like a very sincere person, and my mother Rita Stransky always spoke so highly of her!!! God bless you all.

Especially at this time of year she will be missed. I remember the wonderful visit we had with her a few years ago when we were on a motorcycle trip going through this area, and I wanted to stop and visit my last living aunt, It was a great afternoon.
