Edward W. Fleming

Edward W. Fleming, age 78, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Ed was born to Joseph J. and Kathleen Fleming in Philadelphia, PA in 1942. He graduated from Salesianum High School after which he joined the National Guard. He worked for Diver Chevrolet before starting his own auto sales business, Fleming Auto Sales, in the 1960’s. First located on Governor Printz Blvd., Ed relocated his business to Churchman’s Road in New Castle in the mid 70’s to a building which he and his father designed and built. Later he added a commercial rental building which he maintained on a daily basis. Ed had many hobbies including watch repair and working on his tan. But first and foremost his passion in life was his work and his unique ability to fix anything that was broken. Ed loved traveling to Cancun, Mexico, and did so as often as he could, at least one hundred times over the past 40 years.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, his brother Joseph J. Fleming, Jr., and his sister Mary Anita DiJiacomo. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorraine, his daughter, Renay (Sean) and his son Edward D. (Maria), both of Wilmington, DE, grandchildren Ryan, Riley, Joey and Katelyn, his brother William Fleming of Colorado, his sister Kathleen Glennon of Rehoboth Beach, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

I am one of Eddie's 1950's Carrcroft buddies. We all had super fun in those days with our wooden go carts. Eddie joins a few others of that group that have passed away. Their names would be Larry Turner and Bobby Frew. Eddie, I agree, could fix anything and the fun times we all had will be remember. I am so sorry of his passing.
