Condolences

    N. Dennis Chasteen writes,
I was very saddened to learn of Milt's passing. I was Milt's research advisor at UNH. He was one of my first Ph.D. students. I have many fond memories of Milt during those early years, his dedication to his project, his ready smile and his camaraderie with other students in the department. While we lost touch over the years, he was never far from my mind. His dissertation, which is still on my bookshelf, was a constant reminder of the good times with Milt when he was at UNH. His studies of the chemistry of seashell formation laid the foundation for the work of many other students to follow and culminated in major contributions to the understanding biomineralization processes in mollusks - one of his legacies to science. Thank you Milt and rest in peace my good man.

    Maria Papaioanou Gray writes,
My cousin Milton was courageous and kind...my memories of him harken back to our days as kids, and intermittent visits that were too few and far between. He was the oldest son of my Aunt Helen, and as the oldest daughter of his Uncle Bob (Xenophon), I always admired him from afar... I saw Milton briefly as a student at both UVM and UNH, and all these years later, I can still see him working in the lab as though it were yesterday. I wish cousin Milton a peaceful journey, and sweet reunion with Helen, Mike, Yiayia Vicki and Papou Louie. Love, Maria

Although I did not know Milt as more than an acquaintance, I knew his beautiful parents. I am happy to know he is finally out of pain. I am sure he will be missed by his beautiful family. May Our Lord rest his soul among the just and may his memory be eternal.

Lisa and I are so saddened by Milt's passing. Christy, Bruce, Judi and all of Milt's family need to know that he touched so many people throughout his 65 years. I first met Milt in 1990 when he first joined Ciba. I count my 10 years working for Milt as very fond memories. In addition to teaching me many technical aspects of chemistry, coatings and color he taught me valuable life lessons. For this I am eternally grateful.

Milt was my best friend and golfing buddy during our 4 years at UVM. I just learned of his passing and my memories take me back to those great years of '70-'74. Those I still recall fondly and will cherish. Sorry I did not get to say good-bye. RIP
