William G. Jasper Jr.

William G. Jasper Jr., age 85, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away February 21, 2018.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of William and Mary (Seiler) Jasper.

William served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Bon Homme Richard. He retired from Boeing after 41 proud years.  A lifelong Delaware County, PA  resident, Bill graduated from Darby High School in 1950 and has lived in the Glen Mills and Garnet Valley area for the last 52 years.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Ted, his granddaughter, Rebecca Maling and his father-in-law William McElwee.

Bill had a zest for life. He made friends easily while pursuing his many interests and talents.  Family and friends cherish his gifts of handmade wood furniture, toys, decorative items, watercolor paintings, bird carvings, Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards.  “Wild Bill” was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He enjoyed working and playing at the Brandywine River Museum, making “Critters”, doing tours, and face painting, along with baking dozens of cookies for the Christmas parties.  His miniature dollhouses and accessories were filled with intricate details and won many Blue Ribbons in competitions and at conventions.  “Uncle Cuckoo” loved learning and sharing.  There was always a swimming pool with the best water, open for everyone to enjoy in their yard.  He and his family hosted many celebrations, club meetings, family reunions, and holiday dinners, while making everyone feel welcome.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joan McElwee Jasper. They have been happily married for 64 years and enjoyed life with their 5 children, Dawn Doubet (Dennis) of Wilmington, DE, Lee Jasper of Philadelphia, Dale Maling (Glenn) of North Canton, OH,  Kim Rosebaum of Wilmington, and William Jasper (Sharon) of Aston, PA.   He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Bernadette Doubet Clagg (Don) of Wilmington, Michelle Doubet  Anderson (Bert) of  Wilmington, Brad Maling of North Canton, Tabitha Rosebaum Patterson (Jared) of Waco, TX, Alex Jasper of  State College, PA, Brooke Jasper of Aston, and his treasured great grandchildren Nolan Clagg, Tricia Clagg, Molly Anderson and namesake, Jasper Patterson.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Riddle Hospital and Fair Acres for the compassionate and attentive care given the last few weeks. Special thanks to Dr Mamerto Lebita and staff member Lillian.

Our sincere sorrow when hearing of the passing of your Father Bill. Bruce and I remember the first time meeting your Dad before you and Sharon were married. His friendly nature immediately made us feel welcome. His wit also was fun to be around. We know where you get it from. We remember seeing his handywork and craftsman ship but most importantly how proud he was of you Bill. Throughout the years we saw him on occasion and remember what joy he felt being around Alex and Brooke . He loved you too Sharon. I guess the last time I spoke to him was at Carl’s funeral. He was sad for the reason of the meeting but greeted us as if we saw him the day before. A great man! Our hope to all of you that his memories will help you through the process of grief. It can be a long journey. We are here and love you guys! Our sincere sympathy, Carol, Bruce and Robert
