William Allen Patty, Jr., was born in 1936 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and died peacefully at home on July 26, 2021. William (Billy) was the son of Mildred Flock Patty and William Allen Patty, older brother of Barbara Patty ManeƩ and predeceased by his older sister, Nancy Jane Patty.

In his younger years, Billy enjoyed sports and played tennis, football, baseball, and was the goalie for the Brooks School ice hockey team. He graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1961, Billy married Katharine French Evans. Their children are Katharine Patty Warden (Richard), Eleanor Patty Kennedy (Michael), and William Allen Patty, III (Eliot). Billy served in the United States Marine Corps. Part of his service was a wonderful year in Japan. He worked in finance and began his career in New York City. After moving his family to Philadelphia, he worked there until he joined the Wilmington Trust in 1970. His lifelong passion was working in his garden amongst his collection of trees and with his fish pond.

    John H. Petito writes,
I do not know if Ba, BaBa, and the other children of Billy will get this, but here goes, my first online condolence. I only knew Bill when I was a child and he was my older cousin. Looked like Paul Newman. Handsome as all get out. Personable. Funny. Not much of a student; a little bit of a disciplinary problem. I would see him at childhood holidays, and scattered family events thereafter. He went to his grave no doubt as one of the most popular men in America. Absolutely nothing to dislike about Billy Patty. My life was enriched each time I saw him. I do know he was devoted to his children, to Ba, and that he was a good son to his mother. I never had much of an opportunity to know Billy well, but I will treasure those few moments I spent with him. Great guy. But then you all knew this too.
