Thomas M. Guyer

Thomas M. Guyer, 68, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Delaware died on November 12, 2024.

Tom was a passionate teacher, coach, father and volunteer.  He taught Science at Gunning Bedford Middle School and coached the boys baseball, soccer and basketball and girls basketball teams.  Tom enjoyed his work at Ashland Nature Center, leading groups of children into the great outdoors, introducing kayaking, birds, insects and the night sky.

He was a 1975 graduate of Newark High School where he was a standout wide receiver for their football team.  He graduated from Salisbury State College in 1986.

In 2019, Tom had the opportunity to go to Botswana as a field supervisor to help build a new church for the Nazarene Global Ministry Organization.  This was a life changing trip for him.  Health problems brought him back to the states where he settled in Charlotte, NC.

Tom is survived by his two sons Christopher R. Guyer and Matthew T. Guyer, grandson Joshua N. Newman, brothers Rick and Joe, sisters Eileen, Margaret and Bobbee and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mary.

Funeral Services

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday January 11, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware.
