Terri Lynn Ferguson (Sloan)

Terri Lynn Ferguson (Sloan), 68, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on January 10, 2026, surrounded by love.

Terri was born in 1957, and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, by Aaron and Betty Sloan. She grew up alongside her brother, Gary, and from a young age showed the determination, athleticism, and warmth that would define her life. Terri danced for many years with Anna Marie Dance Studio, studying ballet, tap, and jazz. She was also an excellent swimmer and tennis player and proudly served as a majorette in high school. As a young girl, she developed a deep love for the beach—a love she later passed down to her own family through cherished annual trips to Bethany Beach.

Terri met her husband, Wayne Ferguson, through mutual friends, and they were married on September 25, 1983. Together, they shared 42 years of marriage built on love, partnership, and unwavering support. Wayne shared Terri’s passion for exercise and fitness and proudly cheered her on through her years of teaching fitness classes and running 5K races, always standing by her side.

Terri followed her daughters closely through their school years at Immaculate Heart of Mary and Ursuline Academy, serving as the Food Service Director at each school. In this role, she cared for countless students the same way she cared for her own family—with dedication, generosity, and love.

Terri was the definition of strength and heart. She was an avid runner who famously ran in cleats when it snowed, tackled CrossFit and boxing with determination, and approached life with grit and resilience. She was tough, a little stubborn, endlessly caring, deeply selfless, and extraordinarily generous—always putting others before herself.

She had an unmatched gift for making things beautiful. Her holiday decorating transformed homes into memories, and her garden— especially her flower boxes— was a reflection of the care and pride she put into everything she did. Terri also loved her Philadelphia sports teams, cheering hardest for the Eagles, with the same loyalty and passion she showed her family.

Terri is predeceased by her father, Aaron Sloan. She is survived and missed dearly by her beloved husband, Wayne Ferguson; her daughters, Alie Pevar (Mike) and Jenna Hoxton (Archie); her cherished grandchildren, CJ, Annie, Sophie, and Charlie, who were the absolute light of her life; her loving mother, Betty Sloan; her brother, Gary Sloan (Janice); her sister-in-law, Deborah Ferguson (Jim); and her nieces and nephews, Zach, Dylan, Morgan, and Sara; and the Ethel to her Lucy, Barbara Schneider.

Above all else, Terri was the very best mom and Mimi. Her love was constant, her presence unwavering, and her impact immeasurable. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and love that will live on through the family she adored so fiercely. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Fox, Dr. Makhlin, and Penn Medicine for their compassion and excellent care of Terri. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terri’s memory may be made to METAvivor, honoring her strength, resilience, and the impact she made on those who loved her.
