Susan Kyle Kuehl, age 83, passed away on June 16, 2022.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Richard (Dick) Kuehl. Susan attended high school at Rumson High School in Rumson, NJ, and Southern Seminary and Junior College in Buena Vista, Virginia.
Susan was a loving wife, mother and homemaker to her loving family. Susan was adored by her family for her constant loving and unconditional support, wonderful attitude, and her desire and ability to make everyone happy. She is also remembered as a wonderful host. During their many years living on the family’s beloved farm in Oxford, PA, and at the family’s vacation home in Lake Tahoe, NV, Susan and Dick hosted countless gatherings of family and friends where she cooked wonderful meals for her guests, and Dick entertained with his famous dry sense of humor. Susan would work tirelessly in the summers on “the Farm” canning vegetables that her family grew in their garden, and that were enjoyed by the family all winter. She never missed her son’s sporting events, and she helped all of her children with their riding of horses in horse shows in the summer, and fox hunting in the winter.
Susan worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper for a couple businesses owned by her friends, and she drove for Meals on Wheels delivering meals to people in need. Susan was an avid golfer and was a member of Chantilly Manor Country Club in Cecil County, MD, and Newark County Club in Newark, Delaware. Susan loved card games of all kinds, including bridge, canasta, and gin rummy. After Dick’s passing, she moved to The Villages, FL, where she met wonderful new friends and continued her golfing. When her health no longer permitted her to golf, she took up Texas Holdem poker. In her later years after moving back up north from The Villages, she was a regular player at the Delaware Park Casino poker room, where she was known by players and dealers simply as “mom.”
Susan is survived by her brother, Jere Rutberg, son Robert (Bob) Kuehl, daughters Candace Anzaldo and Sandra Anzaldo, grandchildren Emily and Amanda Anzaldo, and many nieces and nephews.
