Stephen F. Browne

Stephen F. Browne, age 81, of Wilmington, Delaware and formerly of Westport Co. Mayo, Ireland, passed away on March 8, 2022 in Wilmington.

Stephen was a graduate of St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth Co. Kildare, Ireland. He worked in many fields throughout his career including a travel agent for Browne’s Travel, Eire Tours, and was the founder of Hidden Ireland Production. He ended his career as a teacher in Maryland.

Stephen joined many local community organizations through the years. He was an honorary member of the New York Police Department and the Historical Society of Ireland.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Browne. He is survived by his children: Stephen Browne (Andria) and Kathryn Browne (Tim McMullin); grandchildren: Kellie, Stephen, and Theodore; siblings: Tommy Browne (Liz) and Maureen Walsh (Liam); cousin: Ger Browne; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 2-3:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ireland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen’s name can be made to Delaware Hospice at https://www.delawarehospice.org/donate/

Funeral Services

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 2-3:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ireland at a later date.
