Sophia Diamond Psaltis

Sophia passed away peacefully on September 16, 2017 while surrounded by her family.

She was born in 1939, the middle child of three children in Athens, Greece to Thomas and Polito Diamond. Her family emigrated to Wilmington, Delaware in 1954 where she continued her education at Wilmington High School.

Among her many talents, Sophia was an excellent seamstress, working from home and later at the Fashion Shop part time. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Sophia’s generous spirit and love of people endeared her to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where she was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and The Young at Heart Club. Her passions included sharing her faith and spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons.

Sophia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Nickolas, her two devoted sons John Psaltis and Thomas (Cindy) Psaltis, all of Wilmington, DE, sister Helen Gianelos of Virginia, brother Anthony (Lauren) Diamond, two grandsons Nickolas and James Psaltis, and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc., 808 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
