Shirley Ewald Vaillancourt

Shirley Ewald Vaillancourt of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on January 13, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born in Wethersfield, CT where she married Joseph A. Vaillancourt, her husband of forty years who passed away in 1987. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Shirley enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. She loved the beach and made her summer home in Rehoboth Beach, DE for decades.

She is survived by her three children, son Thomas Vaillancourt (Merralyn) of Wilmington, son Timothy Vaillancourt (Kathy) of Bear, DE and Galena, MD, and daughter Kathleen Miller (Dan) of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Karl Vaillancourt of San Luis Obispo, CA, Scott Vaillancourt (Maria) of Clayton, DE, Timothy Vaillancourt of Clayton, DE, Ashley Dills (Mike) of Middletown, DE, Jason Miller of San Diego, CA and Ashley Miller of Wilmington; and two great-grandchildren, Reece Dills and Gracie Dills of Middletown, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully suggests contributions be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.

Funeral Services

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday January 18, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am on Thursday morning at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
