Sarah Louise Schade

Sarah Louise Schade passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Most recently, she was a resident of Harbor Chase in Wilmington, Delaware, where she received compassionate and attentive care from the staff, nurses, and caregivers.

She was born in 1932, in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Jackson, Tennessee. Following her marriage in 1951 to Jack Bowers, Sarah raised her three children in Memphis, Tennessee. Later in life, she spent nearly three decades in the western North Carolina mountains, specifically Brevard and Fletcher.

Sarah earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Memphis and spent much of her professional life in healthcare, working with several hospitals to market their inpatient rehabilitation programs. Her work reflected her dedication to improving lives and supporting recovery through meaningful outreach.

Sarah always had a close circle of dear friends, especially during her years in Memphis, where she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and studying art—pursuits that not only brought her joy but deepened lifelong bonds.

Sarah was a talented artist who brought creativity and beauty into the world through her work. She also had a lifelong love of reading and a passion for travel that took her to many meaningful places. But most of all, Sarah loved her family deeply and unconditionally—they were the heart of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Cook (Rob), her son Joe Bowers (Sherrie), and her daughter-in-law Karin Nelson. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kate Cook (Mike), Lindsay Cook (Moises), Eli Henninger (Dave), Amanda Bowers (Paul), Jackson Bowers (Kate), Kellen Bowers (Emily), Ryan Bowers (Bailey), and Brenden Bowers. Her joy extended to her great-grandchildren: Luke, Louisa, Cameron, Ezra, Paige, Ingrid, Silas, Sylvie, and Stevie.

Sarah was predeceased by her beloved son, Jack, whose memory she held close to her heart.

Her family and friends will remember Sarah for her kindness, grace, resilience, and the unwavering love she gave so freely.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, or Mercy Hospital in Baltimore.
