Sara Gallo DeCecchis

Sara Gallo DeCecchis, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away on September 10, 2017 in her home surrounded by her children.

Sara was born in 1928 to Louis Gallo and Lucy Albanese in Wilmington. Upon graduating from P.S. DuPont High School, Sara began her career as a teletype operator at the E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company until she chose to stay at home and raise her children. Once her children were raised, she returned to work for 35 years as office manager of the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery, retiring at the age of 83.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando F. DeCecchis; her son, James T. DeCecchis; and her brother, William Gallo. She is survived by her son, Steven P. (Linda); daughter, Susan D. Hertsenberg (Dale); daughter, Lynne D. Beadle (Tim); seven grandchildren, Sean P. (Josie) and Scott P. (Cara) DeCecchis; Jamee L. and Matthew C. Hertsenberg, Christopher W., Jessica L. and Marissa A. Beadle; brother, Louis A. Gallo; and one great grandchild, Savannah Brielle DeCecchis.
