I went to see Ruthie sing MANY times years ago. I still listen to a CD that she cut! What an amazing undiscovered talent she was and a super nice lady! My sincere condolences to her friends and family.

I met Ruthie when I started working at Lucille's in the Concord Mall when I was 16. I eventually started working with her at Woolworth's restaurant. She was well known and loved by everyone! Always had her regulars and the staff quickly became her "kids". She sang at my first wedding even though she was sick with a bad cold. I loved to hear her sing and have her CD also. She became Grandmom Ruthie to my kids. When my son was born, she loved his picture so much, she hung it in her kitchen. I visited her one Christmas when she lived close to downtown Wilmington and couldn't understand why her one of her decorations spelled "Leon" (Noel backwards)! She laughed as I was the only one who visited her, asked. To this day, I spell my Noel backwards as it always reminds me of her. Sing with the Angels now sweet lady! And, of course, Sweet Dreams with Patsy Cline!! You will be missed!

Heartbroken. My cousin, Ruthie, passed, and yet, we did not know. Ruth's Father and my Grandmother were siblings. I have waaaay too many fabulous stories to tell, but I am still reeling from discovering she is gone. Our other close cousin, Eileen Silicato (Her Mother, like my Grandmother, was also a Brainard and sister to Ruth's father), are devastated. Again, we are heartbroken.
