Russell Keith Hardesty

Russell Keith Hardesty of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2026, at the age of 71.  Russ was born in Wilmington in 1954, to the late Richard & Martha Hardesty. Russ had a fulfilling career as a home-health occupational therapist, devoting many years to helping his patients live more independently in their own homes. Russ and his wife Anne shared 41 beautiful years of marriage. Russ’ family was his greatest pride, and he loved them unconditionally. He was a devoted husband, dad and Pop Pop. Every holiday, birthday, job promotion, or other achievement never went unnoticed or unpraised.

Russ loved telling “dad jokes”, watching Jeopardy, Saturday Night Live, and Law And Order reruns. He was a fan of Philly sports teams, but always made sure to root for his sons-in-law teams, too. Russ was also a kind and thoughtful person- if there was a way he could help someone, he always did.  He will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Russ is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughters, Katie Oliver (Nick) and Sara Ross (Joe); and his five grandchildren, Wade, Ellis, Evelyn, Nathan and Nora, as well as many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church (1120 Darley Rd, Wilmington DE 19810) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, loved ones may donate to support any of the many missions offered at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where Russ attended for over 30 years: https://www.trinitypresby.org/give.

I had the privilege of talking with Russ at the Oliver boys birthday parties, and enjoyed the conversation. Russ was engaging and funny and a great Dad and grandfather. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time. The loss of Russ is Heaven's gain.
