Robert P. Baldwin

Robert “Penn” Baldwin passed away at the age of 60 on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Christiana Hospital with his family by his side. Penn was born in June of 1957, to Jane Hollingsworth and the late Robert Baldwin Sr. He grew up and resided in the Centreville, Delaware area his entire life.

Penn was extremely mechanically inclined and worked as a Foreman at Honda East Yamaha for over 20 years. He specialized in transmission repairs and rebuilds. While working at Honda East Yamaha, some of his proudest projects was to build custom motorcycles specialized for accommodating physically handicapped individuals. He also worked at Endo Pharmaceuticals in facilities management for over 6 years. More recently, he owned and operated a lawn care business that serviced clients in the New Castle County area.

Penn was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to take motorcycle rides with his wife, Diane and his two daughters, Jen and Melissa. Penn found extreme joy in recreational water activities including boating and riding jet skis with his family. Penn loved to go to the beach and frequented the family’s beach house in Bethany as part of their annual summer vacation. Penn really enjoyed cooking, grilling, and always prepared excellent dishes for family and friends to enjoy. He also enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables.

Penn will be remembered as a person with a hard exterior, but a soft heart. He would do anything to help people in need. Penn is survived by his loving wife, Diane Baldwin of Centreville, daughter Jennifer Coverdale and son-in law Ben Coverdale both of Harrington, daughter Melissa Baldwin and fiancé Justin Fenimore both of Hartly and his mother, Jane Szymanski of Hockessin. In addition, he is survived by many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth J. Mathewson of Hockessin.

A visitation will take place on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 1:00 – 2:00PM followed by a service at 2pm from the Chandler Funeral Homes & Crematory, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, Delaware 19707.
