Robert J. Dube Sr.

Robert J. Dube Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Monday, July 14, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Dube; his daughter Faye C. (Dube) Bachmura and son-in-law Stan Bachmura; his son Robert J. Dube, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kelly (Halsch) Dube; also, four grandchildren – Benjamin and Eli Dube; Hollis and Beatrice Bachmura who brought him tremendous joy. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Carol Venables (Hal Venables); David Dube; Patricia Biscardi (John Biscardi); and Dennis Dube (Lynn Dube), as well as several nieces and nephews; and close friends whom he considered family.

Bob proudly worked for Amtrak for 45 years before retiring in 2013. His last ten years there were spent as union president representing the transportation workers union for the Northeast Corridor, passionately supporting and giving guidance. He thoroughly enjoyed this role and the places throughout the country it enabled him to travel and the people he got to meet. He held this as one of his greatest achievements, as did his family.

Bob took great pride in his family. He shared in their sense of adventure and love of sports. Even when his wife Kathy told him that we are going to learn to ski! He encouraged his children to embrace hard work and independence. He loved nature and animals providing lots of childhood fun with various fish, Pixy their beloved bunny, and their dog, Jack, who will outlive us all!

He spent many years as a volunteer coach for his son’s baseball and football teams for Holy Rosary Parish. Also, he served as president of the Fox Point Baseball League for many years. All of that while still managing to attend portions of his daughter’s games.

Anyone who knew Bob typically had the chance to enjoy his cooking or vegetables from his garden. He loved creating meals and teaching his children various cooking tips.

Those who knew him best, also experienced his vibrant and mischievous sense of humor. He loved being playful and silly, or rebellious in his youth. He enjoyed car rides with Eric Clapton or some soulful rock music blaring from the speakers with the windows down. His family and friends all have some story that starts with “I can’t believe Bob did this”!

His family encourages loved ones to embrace a moment like this in his honor.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE from 10:30am to 12:00pm. The service will begin at 12:00pm.

I first met Bob in 1979. I was a 19 yr old Machinist working for Bob in the old wheel shop. Bob was a great supervisor. There were a lot of talented Machinist in the shop and Bob allowed us to do our jobs while at the same time making sure we had everything we needed to get the job done. Bob would stop by my booring mill at break time following every Flyers game to discuss the previous nights game. Jump ahead 30 plus years and we were both union representatives for our respective organizations. Our discussions were a little more serious but we would always mention the Flyers. In sympathy and friendship Mike Hill

Dear Kathy, Faye and Bobby, Bob will always be remembered by the Abner family as a kind, concerned and happy neighbor. We have been blessed to be neighbors for thirty years. For years he shared his zucchini, tomatoes and squash. We remember many days in the summer coming home to a bag of vegetables at the garage door. Know that we are praying for you during this difficult time but God will comfort you best! Castell Jr., Adrienne and Castell Abner, III.

Cathy Hunter (Key Largo, FL) writes,
Imagining Bobby Dube Jr is our local FWC officer, and it all makes sense now. He is one of the kindest, most sincere and open family men in our community who has gladly welcomed us at his home unexpectedly many times. Clearly, his father shaped the man and father he became. If I knew we were both from Wilmington, I had forgotten that detail, but my husband and I always enjoyed discussing fishing with him. Our sincere and most heartfelt condolences. Christ said, do not let your hearts be troubled. Exercise faith in God, exercise faith also in me. John 14:1. Also, John 16:22, Revelation 21:3-4
