Robert “Bob” Dickerson

Robert “Bob” Dickerson passed away on January 16th at the age of 93.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Eleanor R. Dickerson, his parents Leslie D. and Vera K. Dickerson, his son Wayne R. Hutchins and grandson Gerald H. Winnington, Jr.

Bob was born in Glassboro, NJ, graduated from P S DuPont HS and attended the University of Delaware. He served in the Marines during WWII as a sergeant of a radar team in the South Pacific. Upon his return from the war he was employed at Huber Sporting Goods for 40 years. During his time at Huber’s, Bob was the sales rep for most of the schools in the state and organized the Baseball and Softball Leagues in New Castle County. Bob ended his career at Huber’s as President and CEO.

Bob and Eleanor retired to Sussex County, where they lived in Pot Nets on the Indian River. Bob loved to fish, play golf and enjoyed boating on the river. Unable to stay retired, Bob worked in the boat retail business and ran a lawn care service for many years.

Bob was a member of the University Club, DelVets and the American Legion.

Bob is survived by his daughter Leslie, her spouse Rose and their children Dillon and Samantha. His daughter Sandy, her husband Jerry, their children Bill and Lisa and his daughter-in-law Joyce and her son Barry. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Bob and his family would like to thank Carrie Bosco, Ken Kullman and his neighbors in Pot Nets for all their help and kindness. The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him over these last few months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805 or to Heartland Hospice, 261 Chapman Road, Suite 100, Newark, DE 19701.

Funeral Services

Bob will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. At Bob’s request, services will be private.
