Raymond F. Bree

Raymond F. Bree, age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed peacefully after a long and fulfilling life on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

He was born in the Bronx, NY, the youngest of 5 children. Raymond married Patricia sixty one years ago and raised a family of 6 children with great integrity and love. Ray and Pat were a model of strength and their commitment to marriage was a joy to watch. Pat predeceased him in 2015. He was a graduate of Fordham Prep and Brooklyn Polytech Institute and received his Master’s degree in Engineering from University of Delaware. After spending time in the Coast Guard, Raymond enjoyed a career in engineering development with the DuPont Company with several patents in his name. Many knew him throughout his career as “Big Ray” due to his smile and engaging way of being. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and deeply committed to his faith. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of DuPont Country Club.

Raymond is survived by his six children; Raymond and Denise Bree, Christine DiMauro, Tricia Fitzharris, Robert Bree, Michele and David Burroughs, Michael and Marijoy Bree. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Kelly, Lexi, Mac and Kerry Bree, Vincent and Kevin DiMauro, Kyle Fitzharris, Brandan, Maggie, Ryan and Cassie Bree.

The family would to thank the loving staff at Maris Grove for creating a warm, engaging place for their father. He enjoyed his days there thanks to their attention.

Funeral Services

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen R.C. Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 at 11:00 am with interment following in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations in Raymond’s name may be made to Catholic Charities.
