Prahlad Mathur

Prahlad Mathur, age 90, of Hockessin passed away peacefully in his house on Monday, March 20, 2017, in the midst of his family.

Prahlad was born in Ajmer, India, on March 14, 1927. He was the eldest of three brothers born to Swarup and Pyar Bai Mathur. He moved to Mumbai to start his career, and then held a variety of important administrative positions in both the private and public sectors as a financial auditor. In 1958, he was selected to come to the USA by the Indian Embassy for a 4- year assignment. While in the US, he established his family and also completed his graduate degree. He sponsored his brother to also migrate to the US, as a result of which the entire family was able to achieve success and prosperity. He was a “self-made” man – – he singlehandedly supported the prosperity of his family—his brothers, his children, and the entire extended family.

Prahlad is survived by his two brothers, Kailash (Rashmi), Murli (Kamlesh), and their respected families; by his son Pramod (Paul), daughter-in-law Mala, his daughter Angeli, son-in-law Puran; his grandchildren Meghna (Nimish), Poonam, Vikrum, Kinjal, Ruchi; and his great-grandchildren Ishaan and Meera.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice & Palliative Care for their services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of their choice in the name of Prahlad Mathur.
