Phyllis Scrivner Conner

Phyllis Scrivner Conner

Phyllis passed away peacefully on August 4, 2017. She was born and raised in Berea, Ky. She moved to Arden, Delaware in 1958 where she resided with her husband of 61 years, Charles”Chuck”Conner.

Phyllis was a dedicated teacher of young children and school administrator. She began her teaching career in the early sixties with the Head Start program. She was instrumental in the development and success of St David’s Day School. In the last ten years before retiring in 1993, Phyllis was the director of Tatnall’s preschool. She always said she spent ten years at one school then moved on to another. After 30 years as an educator and administrator, Tatnall Preschool named and dedicated the Phyllis Conner Library in her honor.

Phyllis was an active member of St David’s Episcopal Church, and involved in many Arden community events through the years. She was a gifted cook and an organic gardener. Phyllis always poured her heart and soul into everything she did, leaving her signature wake behind her in all of her passions. She will be missed by many, most especially by her family.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Chuck Conner and her son Charles Daniel “Dan” Conner. She is survived by her son Michael Conner of Santa Barbara and his two daughters Grace and Angela. Her daughter Kay Conner Miller, her husband Hodge and their two sons Will and Conner of Washington, Va.

Services will be 1:30 pm Sunday September 3, 2017 at St David’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in her honor to the St. David’s Day School.
