Perrie apJones Drysdale

Perrie apJones Drysdale, age 91, formerly of Mountainside, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She was born in 1930, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Robert and Maud apJones. In addition to her parents, Perrie was predeceased by her brother, Robert, and her beloved husband of 57 years, Kenneth G. T. Drysdale.

Perrie graduated from Greenwich High School in CT and earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Wells College in 1952. She met her husband on a blind date, they married, and Perrie became a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom for the next 20+ years. Cook, cleaner, driver, listener, bookkeeper, attentive neighbor, supportive parent and wife. She was the quiet one standing in the back lending a hand and making sure those around her succeeded.

Perrie returned to work outside the home in the 1980’s, volunteering at Summit Hospital and working at Marie Stadler’s Women’s Clothing Store in New Providence, NJ. She had an eye for color and fashion, and was always the picture of elegance and style.

Perrie was an active member of Echo Lake Country Club, playing on their paddle tennis team. She and her husband traveled extensively, and vacationed in Cape Cod and Florida. Perrie enjoyed sunning at the beach, swimming, bridge, horseback riding, and skiing, but most important was family. She was a loving wife and mother, gracious and warm, and made friends where ever she went.

She is survived by her children Matt Drysdale (Kathy) of Hockessin, DE, and Marjie Ripsom (Jon) of Wilmington, DE; 5 grandchildren Brian, Dave, Kristine, Evelyn, Stephanie; and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank her care team, especially Dr. Dana Newswanger, Compassionate Care Hospice, and her caring aides; Addie, Sabrina and Priscilla.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Perrie’s beloved alma mater: Wells College, Advancement Office, 170 Main St., Aurora, NY 13026.

Daniel Nelson lit a candle and writes,
When you meet a beautiful person ppplike, Matt Drysdale, you wonder where the light source comes from. Then the answer reveals itself. You are a testament to your mother’s altruistic and benevolent endeavors which shaped you as a good man, and, ultimately, trickled down to three wonderful children. You are in my prays, cousin Daniel
