Muriel Bacon Wilson Rusten (Terri) of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, died on September 16, 2026, at 92 years old. The daughter of Issac and Hedvig Bacon, Terri grew up in Salem, New Jersey, graduated from Salem High School and Wesley College, and attended Gettysburg College. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America, Wilmington Friends Meeting and Kendal Monthly Meeting.
Terri’s passions included painting, gardening, caring for animals, and spending time with family and friends. A lifelong artist, she studied under Carolyn Wyeth and composed watercolor landscapes within the Wyeth tradition. Later in life, she enjoyed painting a multitude of quirky animals.
By her family and friends, Terri will be remembered for her compassion and gentleness, her generosity of spirit, her playful humor, and her beautiful smile. In her high school yearbook, classmates characterized their friend ‘Bake’ as a jokester with an “impish grin and sparkling eyes… [and] mischievous personality.” Out of all traits, Terri most valued being kind.
A wonderful mother and grandmother, Terri is survived by her children, son Bill Wilson (Judi) and family, Molly Judith Wilson (Alan), Abigail Wilson (Josh); and daughter Bonnie Crosby (Sumner) and family, Anna Woolford (Alex), Sumner Crosby IV (Kim), and Eliza Crosby; her two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Wyatt Woolford; and her sister, Lyn Bacon Smith. She was predeceased by her husbands Paul Wilson and Alan Rusten.
