Lambert R. (Bob) Walker, Jr.

Lambert R. (Bob) Walker, Jr., passed away at his home in Greenville, DE on October 4, 2017. He was ninety-three years old.

Bob Walker, as he was known to family and friends, was born in New York City, New York. He attended the Taft School in Connecticut followed by Yale University. When the second Word War interrupted his studies at Yale, Bob served as a navigator on B-24 bombers with the 737th Bomb Squadron, Fifteenth Air Force in Italy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. Following the war, he returned to Yale University and graduated with the Class of 1945W.

Bob and his wife Patricia, who passed away in 2014, raised three children in Locust Valley, NY and then in Greenville, DE: Lambert Roger Walker III of Brunswick, ME, Patrick Dunne Walker of Durham, NH, and Moira Edith Walker of Wilmington, DE. Patrick and his wife, Theresa, provided Pat and Bob with two grandchildren, William Levins Walker of San Rafael, CA, and Timothy Lambert Roger Walker of Durham, NH. He was a devoted brother to Sally B. Walker.

Bob worked as a Trust Officer and a Chartered Financial Analyst in the investment department at the Wilmington Trust Company from 1962 until 1981. His investment advice was often requested from his family long after he retired.

Bob and Patricia traveled the globe together, visiting India, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Europe. In spite of all of these adventures, it was being at home in Greenville DE that he enjoyed most.

    Jacob Samuelson writes,
Hello, I came across this page while doing some genealogy research. We have a common ancestor through Estelle Barnard, Bob's grandmother. I have some information about the family history that might be interesting to you, and I'd be happy to hear anything you have to share. Please feel free to email me. I'd be especially interested in any photos you may have. Thanks, Jake Samuelson / [email protected]
