Jordi M. Jack – “JJ”

On July 27, with family by his side, our beloved Jordi peacefully passed away due to complications related to a serious stroke. He was 55 years of age.

Jordi is predeceased by his father George Jack, Jr. and is survived by his mother Joyce, with whom he lived. Besides his mother, Jordi is survived by his brothers Billy (Dana) of Colorado and Shawn (Joan) of Talleyville, DE.

Jordi was born with Noonan’s syndrome. With special care and training JJ flourished in society. After a few years of working with MBNA he transitioned to Elwyn of Delaware for the past 22 years. Dedicated to his job, Jordi hated to take time off, receiving much recognition for perfect attendance. He loved making money but hated to spend it! With his love of sports, Jordi reviewed the paper daily and knew the stats of all the teams on any given day. During football he would make weekly choices with his brothers (sometimes involving a small wager!). JJ was an avid participant in many Special Olympic events since childhood including track, swimming, softball throw, basketball and snowshoeing bringing home many medals. He was a founding member of the Inaugural Winter Sports Program at Chadd’s Peak, PA.

Jordi was a master of working the neighborhood to add to his collections of coins and Beanie Babies along with the occasional diet soda or cookie. This earned him the title of “Mayor of McDaniel Crest”. With his great sense of humor, he enjoyed a good prank. Jordi was a caring and compassionate soul always ready to comfort.

We especially want to thank The ARC of Delaware who fought to get protections for those with developmental disabilities!

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jordi’s name are suggested to Special Olympics of Delaware (619 S. College Ave., Newark, DE, 19716) or Faithful Friends Society (12 Germay Dr., Wilm., DE, 19804)

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to the current Covid crisis.

Oh how we will all miss Jordi! It is so hard to imagine how Jordi's awesome sense of humor and the way he lit up a room will no longer be experienced except in our memories. Family gatherings will not be the same. Jordi had such a wonderfulness and uniqueness about him; he was a gentle soul. We have so many touching memories of time spent with Jordi over the years, and will be sure he lives on by telling and re-telling stories and enjoying photos and videos (with Jordi oftentimes in the center of the activity). No doubt we will see you again Jordi, once our times come. Love you always, Mike, Marcy, Ellis, and Hugh

Dear Jack Family, Your sweet Jordi often stopped at my house on Nichols, when I lived in McDaniel Crest. He was a bright spot in many of my days. I enjoyed our chats, I loved his concern for me during my pregnancies, and I was always on the lookout for the coins he requested. He was a special person & my life is better for having known him. You are in my thoughts, Leeanne

We are heartbroken at the news of Jordi’s passing. He was the firefly at East Bay and will be truly missed. Mom will make sure he is well taken care of, that’s for certain!
