John J. Monaghan, Jr.

John J. Monaghan, Jr., age 68, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 19, 2017.

John was the son of Helen T. and John Sr., also longtime residents of Wilmington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He attended St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic School for first through sixth grade and then attended St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School for seventh and eighth grade. He was a graduate of Salesianum School, St. Edward’s University and Austin Texas College. John was a grade school teacher for the Catholic Diocese at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School, St. Edmond’s Academy and St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Helen T. He is survived by his three sisters, Kathleen M. of Wilmington, Ann T. and her husband Wayne of Puerto Rico, and Rosemary E. McGrath and her husband Frank of Boston; nephew Michael P. Walther and his wife Nicole and their three children, Madelyn, Samantha and Michael Jr.
