John J. McKearin Jr. “Jack”
Jack McKearin, 89, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2018.
Jack was born in Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated from Boston College in 1950 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Pauline Marobella in 1951, moved to Wilmington in 1960 and together they raised their 7 children
Jack spent 33 years working in sales for the DuPont Company and after retiring in 1985 went on to have 3 more careers before fully retiring at 75. Loved by all, “Bonefish” Jack’s charm and charisma made him a memorable character. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golfing, skiing and fishing with family and friends. He was deeply dedicated to the Catholic Church, and lived his faith with the same optimistic passion he had for life.
Jack will be dearly missed by his loving family including sons, Steve, Bob and Chris, daughters Patricia Williams, Paula Matthias, Kathy Williams, their spouses as well as his 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and his sister Jill and brothers Gerry and Kevin.
Jack is preceded in death by Pauline, his wife of 62 years, his son Tom, son-in-law Pax Williams, and parents Margaret and John Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, DE. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 29 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilm., DE 19803. Interment will follow the mass at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ashland, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association.
