John Allen Pyne, Sr.

John A. Pyne, Sr. 96, of Fenwick Island, DE and Willow Valley, Lancaster, PA went to be with the Lord December 29, 2017.

He grew up in Claymont, DE and graduated from Claymont H.S. and Goldey-Beacom College.  He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during W.W.II stationed in Italy with the 3rd and 9th Air Force.

John’s first career was with the Reeves Parvin Co. where he became the vice president. For the next 20 years, he worked for Vanguard Group, Inc. as an assistant vice president of Vanguard Group Investments and also as the administrator of the Blue Sky Securities Law Department.

John had many hobbies. For 16 years, he enjoyed taking off from the Wilmington Airport in his single-engined aircraft.  An avid boater, John spent many happy hours refitting his boats, fishing, clamming, crabbing, or taking his family for a spin around the bay.  John was a bass singer in numerous local, church choirs and also sang in the Willow Valley Choral.  John was also a member of Masonic DuPont Lodge #29 AF & AM.

John was predeceased by Dorothy, his wife of 76 years. The couple had 2 children, Janice Trainer of Hockessin, DE and Dr. John A. Pyne, Jr. of Fenwick Island, DE and Chestertown, MD.  Their 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren will miss them both.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to the Diabetes Association of DE.

 

 

Funeral Services

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service at the Gracelawn Memorial Chapel on January 5th at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow immediately after the service.

    Hi Jack, So sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. My Mom kept us posted as she knew your Dad at WV and we had hoped our paths would cross there when we visit my Dad at Arbor View. We live in Lewes and perhaps we can catch up when you are down in Fenwick. In the mean time our prayers and sympathies to you and your family. Wayne and Debbie
