Jeffrey P. Glenn

Jeffrey went home to our Lord on July 7, 2022 after a short illness.

Jeff was born into a middle class family in 1955. He lived a normal childhood and was number four in a home of seven. He was the adventurous one doing things that made his mom’s heart stop. Jeff had a typical public school education, graduating from Concord High School in 1974. During his high school years Jeff was a member of the track and field team. He went on to begin studying accounting at Wilmington College and worked part time as an apprentice at Haldas Meats on Foulk Rd. Here he found his true calling and became a very good meat cutter. As time passed, Jeff decided to move on from the family owned Haldas and was employed by Acme Markets. His home store was on Naamans road at the F & N Shopping Center. He was also a ‘foster butcher’ to other stores when they were shorthanded or someone was on vacation. After many, many years, Jeff retired from Acme, but still found the need for being a butcher. He was hired for Food Lion and continued to work for another 4 or 5 years.

Jeff had a few hobbies. During football season, whenever the Eagles played you would find him in front of the television being the biggest Eagles fan in the state. It did no matter if they were winning or losing, Jeff was cheering them on. The best games were when the Eagles played the Dallas Cowboys and one of his brothers, a big Cowboy fan, would sit together in front of the television as opposing team fans. He also loved cooking and could prepare some excellent meat and Italian dishes. He loved music and dancing in his younger years, before his knees gave out. He enjoyed tending the bar in some local clubs on a part time basis.

Jeff is predeceased by his parents, Frances J. and Barbara D. Glenn; a sister, Sharon and a brother, Paul.

Jeff is survived by his longtime partner Elle Reed, 3 brothers: Bruce, Mark (Kathy), Phil (Lucia) and a sister, Judy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeff’s memory can be made to St. Hedwig Church at 408 South Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805 or Christiana Care Hospice at 501 W. 14th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Always the leader of the pack, Jeff led us thru many adventures, as teenagers; some crazy, some dangerous, some hysterical, some borderline illegal, but alway an adventure, never boring. Playing football he was my favorite and fastest receiver! We lost touch after I went away to college but I’m sure he put the same energy into whatever he did. RIP my old friend!
