Beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Lincoln Fish, 93, of Centerville, DE, died December 2, 2021 at the Country House, in Wilmington, Delaware, after a lengthy decline.
Jean was born in 1928, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Hoover and Alan Mawson Lincoln. She grew up in Rye, NY, and attended Rye Country Day. She graduated from Wells College in 1950 with a degree in sociology and keen interest in working with children. She followed up with graduate work at the Banks Street Schools in New York City, and then teaching at the Brook Farm Nursery School in Norwalk, Connecticut.
She married Floyd Hamilton Fish, Jr. in 1953, and the family moved to Wilmington, Delaware in 1955, where Floyd was an engineer at E.I. du Pont de Neumours’ Experimental Station. In later years, Jean returned to early childhood teaching at the Centerville school.
She is very deeply missed by her five children: Allison, Todd, Jonathan, Cameron, and Bradford, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her younger brother, Thomas Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband, two older brothers and an older sister.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Country House for their care and consideration, especially during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice.
