Jean Fischer Winch

Jean Fischer Winch, of Kennett Square, PA, returned to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Crosslands Life Plan Community, surrounded by family. Born on September 29, 1925 to Winifred and Charles Fischer of Swarthmore, PA, she attended Swarthmore public schools and Swarthmore College.

On December 29, 1945, she married Raymond Frank Winch with whom she enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage. Jean is survived by her children, Margaret “Peggy” Baird of Willow Grove, Nancy Elizabeth  “Betsy” Murtha of Geigertown, PA, Raymond F. “Ray” Winch Jr. of St. Cloud, FL, and Stephen E. “Steve” Winch of Milton, GA, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Jean and Ray lived in Swarthmore, PA, Boston, MA, Jacksonville, FL, Newtown Square, PA, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Bozman, MD, and Stuart, FL before retiring to Kennett Square. She was active with the League of Women Voters, Children’s Home Foundation, ECW Chairwomen, Christmas in St. Michaels Boardmember, and numerous Bible Studies.  She loved travelling, sailing with Ray, playing the piano, tennis, reading, art and keeping up with her family.

Funeral Services

A Memorial Service will be held at Crosslands, 1660 East Street Road, Kennett Square, PA on Friday April 20, 2018 at 1:00PM. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church, 301 S. Talbot Street, St. Michaels, MD on Saturday, April 21, 2018 where she will be interred with her beloved Ray.
