Janet Muriel Skiles

Janet Muriel Skiles, 84, of Rising Sun, MD and formerly of Wilmington, DE died at Calvert Manor Nursing Home on April 1, 2017.

Janet was a graduate of Morton Jr. High School, Cicero, IL ’49 Central Conservatory of Chicago ’52 and Moody Bible Institute, Chicago ’54. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary for GE in San Jose, CA from 1960 – 1964, Ferris School in Wilmington from 1970 – 1971, NES Distributers in Newport, DE from 1980 – 1982. Janet also helped run a lawn care franchise from 1987 through 1993.

She sang in various choirs, beginning as a teen in the entire rendition of Handel’s Messiah complete with orchestra.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jerome Skiles, daughter Barbara Henderson (Chuck) of Fairhill, MD; grandsons Benjamin Arculus (Stephanie) of St. Petersburg, FL, Alex Arculus, Jacob Arculus and Nicholas Henderson, all of Fairhill, MD, and granddaughter Jessie Hollinger of Ft. Meyers, FL. Survivors also include great granddaughters Emma Rose of St. Petersburg, FL and Zoe Hollinger of Ft. Meyers, FL and brothers Vern Hudson (Judy) of San Diego, CA and Bob Hudson (Ann) of San Jose, CA and 17 nieces and nephews.
