Jane H. Levinson

Jane (Hollett) Levinson, 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025.

A lifelong Wilmingtonian, she grew up in The Triangle on W. 23rd St. and graduated from P.S. DuPont High School.

She met her husband Stanley on a blind date, and they were happily married for over forty years until his death in 2000.  They owned Matson Run Convenience Store, at Matson Run Parkway and Washington St., and were a neighborhood fixture.

In retirement she stayed busy, active and independent.  You could find her at Kirkwood Fitness on Naamans Rd., handing out free samples at ShopRite on 202 or volunteering at Wilmington Hospital.

Known for her feistiness, she will be remembered as a woman who loved her family, made her own rules, and lived life to the fullest until the very end.

She was predeceased by her husband Stanley, her only son Larry and her sister Doris (Hollett) Budner.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Anda, three granddaughters Karla (Alex), Julia Tieste (Jason) and Linda (Andrei), four great-grandchildren and a handful of loving nieces.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lodge Lane Assisted Living and The Kutz Home for taking such good and loving care of their Bubbie during the last four years of her life.

There will be a small graveside memorial on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2 pm at The Jewish Community Cemetery, 401 Foulk Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kutz Senior Living, 704 River Rd., Wilmington, DE 19809.

Condolences

    Mark Budner Stutman writes,
Jay and I wish to express our sincere condolences to 'Aunt' Janie Levinson's family. We are related through the late Doris and Stanley Budner. I fondly recall Janie's kindness and soft-spoken nature as a boy, when we would attend family gatherings at my Uncle Stanley and Aunt Doris Budner's home. I remember searching for the afikomen at Passover with Larry and my Budner cousins. Most recently, we took her home to her apartment after a family event. R.I.P. Mark & Jay Stutman

Our family was a backdoor neighbor to Matson Run Convenience Store. What I remember most about Jane and her family was how hard they worked and what good neighbors they were.
