James Bernard Henning

James “Bernie” Henning, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 at the age of 80.

Born in 1945 in Louisville, KY, Bernie lived a life marked by a love of friends and family. He was known for his stunning stained glass art, picture taking and cooking, and for the way he made those around him feel welcome.

Bernie was a graduate of Holy Cross and Flaget High School in Louisville, KY. He spent 13 years working for the L&N Railroad in the office, but his true passion was his second career as a Renaissance stained glass artist where his creative talents shined. Bernie’s stained glass work can be found in many homes throughout Louisville, and he took great pride in his work. Outside of work, he found joy in travelling and spending time with friends and family on the back porch.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Judy (Graf) Henning, son Christopher Henning (Colleen) and his one and only grandson Austin Henning. Bernie was preceded in death by father, Bernard Henning, mother, Katie Henning (Marshall), and brother, Joseph Henning.

Bernie will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he shared and the lives he touched.
