Henry “Hank” Burman, age 83, of Hockessin, DE, on August 31, 2022, passed over the Rainbow Bridge to be reunited with his beloved companions BeBe, Max, and Little Girl.
Hank was born in 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to Rebecca (nee Tyman) and Jacob Burman. His mother was one of eleven children and there were many fond memories of visiting his grandmother every Sunday with all the aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Growing up in the Logan section of Philadelphia meatn everything was in walking distance. Movies on Broad Street, Elementary School, Cooke Junior High, and Olney High School. Never rode a school bus, you knew all the neighbors and they were all like family.
After high school, he attended Drexel Institute of Technology and received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. With ROTC at Drexel and the Army Engineering School at Fort Belvoir, VA, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and served for two years with the 237th Combat Engineer Battalion in Germany.
Following his service, Hank started work with the DuPont Company with many different assignments at locations that included Deepwater, NJ, Manati, PR, and Wilmington, DE. While at DuPont, Hank earned an MBA from University of Delaware.
After retiring from DuPont in 1998, he volunteered at many organizations which included a Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service at the Ronald McDonald House in Delaware.
He enjoyed reading, planting new flowers every spring in his front yard, feeding the birds and squirrels on his back deck and any stray cat that showed up at the front door.
An avid Eagles fan for 70 years, tried to never miss a game. Hank enjoyed golf and played for many years at the DuPont Country Club as well as at courses in most of the United States and even once in Australia. Though never a great golfer, he did break 80 twice and had four holes-in-one. He also loved to play poker, however he found this to be an expensive hobby from time to time.
Hank is survived by his daughters Sabrina and Samantha, his granddaughter Tasha, sister Barbara Markowitz, nephew Jeffrey Markowitz (Amy), Niece Marilyn Gordon (Neil), and niece Debbie Markowitz.
