Flora D. Monck

Flora D. Monck, age 94, of Wilmington, DE., passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her home with her family by her side.

Flora was born in Philadelphia, PA., daughter of Fred and Concetta DeCecco. She was raised in Wilmington, a 1948 graduate of Wilmington High School and of the University of Delaware, class of 1952.

She was employed at various times by Continental American Life Insurance Company, by the Home Insurance Company as a commercial lines underwriter, and retired in 1996 from Professional Liability Insurance Incorporated as an account manager. Her true career, though, was as wife to Harry and as a mother to their three sons.

Her numerous interests have included the CCD program of St. Mary Magdalen Church, where she also served as a member of the Visitation Committee and the Emanuel Dining Room Committee. She was a member for a number of years of the Delaware Art Council.

Flora was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and travel. She especially enjoyed having coffee with friends at McDonalds after daily Mass, and lunch with friends in the Birthday Club, the Office Girls, the Bridge Ladies, the Class of 48 Girls and the Mondays (who met on Wednesdays). One of her greatest pleasures following her retirement was attending classes at the Academy of Lifelong Learning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her son Christopher and her sisters, Bernice Kadlec and Betty Marroni. She is survived by her sons Harry and Jonathan, her two grandchildren, Harry (Hal) and Margaret Alice (Maggie), as well as nine nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to express their appreciation for the care and support of her many friends and of her very special caregiver, Angela Christie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. A visitation will be at church prior to the mass beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
