I am both shocked and very saddened to hear of your loss of Evon. From our first meeting as guides at the Hagley Museum, we recognized kindred spirits as long time Social Workers. When we worked together directly, our constant joking and shared sense of humor about the Hagley tasks and the amusement park called life was apparent to everyone. Never felt like WORK; We had FUN!! I will miss her! So sorry!! Elton (Elton G.Grunden, LCSW)

Evon and I met in 7th grade and little did I know I had found my best sister/friend for life. We even had the same name! How delightful is that! She got me to do things I wouldn’t have done on my own. Like model in a fashion show, read poetry on stage and stop bitting my nails and polish them instead. I always told her she could have been a hand model since she had long slender fingers. She was beautiful inside and out and fiercely passionate about her family and household, taking care of everything and everyone. May God bless Darrell, Tammy, Clayton, Juliette, sister Evelyn and brother Monroe.

    Helen Connon writes,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Evon's passing. I hadn't seen her in several years until we sat together at a luncheon last summer. She was the same beautiful, funny Evon and it was great to reconnect. Back on the 90's we were part of a group of women who would meet after work once or twice a week to go running. It was always fun and by the end of the run we had erased much of the stress from the work day. I also have fond memories of parties and teas with Evon and that same group of friends. My condolences to Darrell, Tammy and Clayton.
