Eugenia L. Terss

Eugenia Lozos Terss, 94, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022.

Eugenia graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945, where she excelled and graduated with honors, missing out on being class valedictorian by one grade in typing class.  In her senior year, she was asked to take over teaching Spanish when the teacher took a leave of absence.  After graduation, she modeled locally, including for Cadillac, and was a runner-up in the Miss Delaware pageant.

She met the love of her life, Dr. Robert H. Terss, in June 1953, after she caught his eye in church, and they were married in 1955.  They enjoyed a lifetime romance and remained happily married for almost 52 years, until his passing in 2007.

As beautiful as Eugenia was on the outside, she was even more delightful on the inside.  She was warm, engaging, extremely positive, and always thinking of other people before herself.  She was known for her sense of style and always looking fashionable.  She enjoyed in particular the glamorous parties she and her friends had.  She particularly loved hats, which she often said “completed the outfit.”

She frequently spent time at DuPont Country Club, where she had a large group of friends, and belonged to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

In addition to her husband, she is also predeceased by her parents, Nicholas Lozos and Aphrodite Manikas, brothers William, Charles and George Lozos and Godchild, Christine Constantinou Heinz.  She is survived by her Godchild and niece, Maria Eugenia Hallas, sister-in-law Alice Terss Fandos, and many nieces and nephews who considered her a favorite aunt.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday July 11, 2022 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, Wilmington 19806 with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow the service in Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.

My mother Georgia and Jenny were childhood friends who remained close for decades until my mother’s passing 13 years ago. In the years since Mom died, Jenny would call from time to time to chat, reminisce about my parents and her Bob and the good times they shared together, and catch up on my growing family. She was a warm, upbeat, good-hearted woman who will be greatly missed. May her memory be eternal.

What a delightful lady. She was my friend here at Plush Mills in PA. It ended up that we only live about 5 miles from each other in DE and we both shopped at Claire's Dress Shop. I did not meet her until 1 years ago. She was a joy to hold a conversation with, a snappy dresser with a big bright smile. I will always miss her. I'm sure she having a Greek party up in heaven!
