Van and Irene Leichliter lit a candle and writes,
To the sons and daughters of Gene Grimm, Gene was a wonderful man and mentor to me at DuPont. He was my first boss and set the bar for being an outstanding mentor, boss, and friend. He treated me as an equal in everything he taught me. He showed me the ropes at DuPont, included me in important meetings with clients, and also invited me to lunch with his colleagues. When I made mistakes (more frequently than I would have liked) he patiently pointed them out and congratulated me when I did well . We remained friends throughout my 41 year career at DuPont. I will never forget his wisdom, his warmth, his humor, his patience and his willingness to help others. As children of such a man, he leaves you a rich legacy. Take solace that he is now in a better place, at rest with the Lord.

    William Gonser writes,
I was very sorry to hear about Gene. When I moved to Wilmington in the early 80s as a brand new lawyer, I worked for Gene for a few years. He was always encouraging to me and I learned a great deal from him about the law in corporations, working with clients, addressing issues and giving advice. After I retired in 2005, I saw Gene from time to time with Gene, Jr. at lunch in Lucky's. He was always gracious and friendly and asking about my family. My condolences to all in his family. Eugene Grimm was my boss in DuPont's Legal Department when I first started doing their immigration law. He was an amazing boss and man who mentored me and always encouraged me to stretch myself. I will never forget how kind and thoughtful he was -- he was the best boss in my entire career at DuPont. With his encouragement, I volunteered for the Ministry of Caring and their annual silent auctions for a few years. He was always other-oriented. I will never forget Mr. Grimm for the great man that he was!
