Ernest W. Cloud

Ernest W. Cloud, passed away April 7, 2023 at age 93 at Sunrise of Westtown in West Chester, PA.

Ernest was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Dorothy M. and Ernest Reese Cloud. He was a graduate of Kennett Square High School. He was employed by the DuPont Co. for 38 years, taking early retirement in 1986. Most of his employment was at the Chestnut Run site in the Textile Research Lab in various supervisory capacities. Ernie met his future wife in 1950 at DuPont, married in 1951 and had 71 happy years together. Ernie had a lifelong love of cars and music. One of his joys was acquiring a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, which he entered in car shows and even won some 1st place trophies! He also was a musician, playing tenor and alto saxophone in some local bands, and was the vocalist when needed.

He is survived by his wife Dolores; daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Frank Taylor; grandsons Brian and Gregory Farrow, and Matthew and Brett Taylor; great grandson Oliver Taylor, allof Virginia Beach, VA. Son and daughter-in-law Douglas W. and Karen N. Cloud; grandsons Ryan and Eric Cloud of Wilmington, DE; sister Dorothy Bozzone of Tolland, CT. He was predeceased by sisters Diann Valentino of Brandon, FL and Elsie Snyder of Brandamore, PA.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE on Wednesday April 19, 2023, from 11AM to 12 noon. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernest’s memory to the Delaware Humane Society or the charity of your choice.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE on Wednesday April 19, 2023, from 11AM to 12 noon. Interment will be held privately.
