Eleanor Rae (King) Smith

With blessed assurance in the Lord Jesus Christ, Eleanor went to be with him on Thursday, March 23rd 2017.

Eleanor was born to the late Roy and Rae King in Wilmington DE. She graduated from PS DuPont HS in 1955 and on Nov. 16, 1956 married her high school sweetheart, Charlie. They were married during his time of service in the USMC of which she was very proud. She worked as a secretary for Hercules Inc. for 10 years but her greatest joy was making a home for her family and raising her children. She enjoyed participating with her woodworker husband in craft shows for many years and loved travelling, reading and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church for almost 30 years where she and her husband loved greeting on Sunday mornings. She loved her church family and especially her weekly bible study group.

Eleanor is pre-deceased by a beloved daughter, Cathy Henderson in 1996. She is survived by her beloved family members, husband of 60 years, Charles R. Smith, son Stephen R. Smith & his wife Lisa of Thousand Oaks, CA, Grandchildren, Laura Williams and her husband Ian of Newark DE, Emily Gallagher and her husband Chris of Bear, DE, Matthew Henderson with Kimberly of Bear DE and Alexander and Ryan Smith of Thousand Oaks CA. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Iona Williams and a great-grandson, Blake Henderson
