Edythe L. Rapkin

Edythe L. Rapkin, died of natural causes on Sunday February 16, 2020. She was born in 1918 to Samuel & Reba Levick. Edythe and her husband of 44 years, Lewis W. Rapkin, raised three boys, Leslie, Fredrick and Gordon.

Edie was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. After attending the University of Pennsylvania, she attended business school, and used this education for 15 years in the business office at Wilmington Friends School. She always believed in education and enjoyed travel, swimming and needle work. She was most proud of her extended family and their many accomplishments.

She is survived by her sons Leslie and his wife Enid of Wimauma, FL, Fredrick and his wife Alice of Needham, MA, and Gordon and his wife Barbara of Wilton, CT. She had 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside memorial service on Wednesday, February 19 at 1:00 pm at Beth Emeth Cemetery, Wilmington, DE. The family will receive visitors in the Brandywine Room at Rockland Place, 1519 Rockland Road following the service. A Shiva service will be held at 4:00 pm.

The family requests that any donations be made to Wilmington Friends School, 1010 School Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 or Temple Beth Emeth, 300 W. Lea Boulevard, Wilmington, DE 19802.

Shiva:  Brandywine Room at Rockland place at 4:00 pm

    Dear Rapkin Family, On behalf of the members of the Junior Board of ChristianaCare, I extend our sincere sympathies on the loss of your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Edythe was an Emeritus member of our organization, joining the Junior Board in 1982. We are thankful for Edythe’s years of volunteer service and commitment to the Junior Board. In her memory, a donation will be made to the Junior Board Memorial Fund. The monies in this fund are used to support various projects throughout ChristianaCare.
