Doreen Webb

Doreen Webb joined her father Frank, brother Gregg & best friend Kyra Crowe in the stadium of the Lord. She touched many people in her journey: “You’d be a really great guy, if you stopped being stupid.”; “there are breeders & non-breeders”; “Where are the parents?”; “Where is your brain?”. And because of the strength of her friendships, be reminded of these quotes many years later with a laugh – “see, I told you so!”

A low profile was her trademark. Independent, not a lot of fanfare but always showed up for all the events in our lives, even when she was hours away living in Dallas, TX. Loyalty & unconditional love were her trademark. She followed Bob Dylan’s creed to “grow up righteous, true, truth surrounded by light”.

Doreen shared everything she had. Whether it was her knowledge of Texas for a cousin’s yearlong school project, cookie recipes from her grandmother’s kitchen, her famous collage of photo books containing all the concerts, trips and memories she made along the way. And there was always a card in the mail for all the occasions life took us through. Such a loyal friend.

Doreen was the beacon to all her knucklehead St. Joseph University friends, class of 1985. Doreen kept a clear, non-judgmental mind. She would bail you out of jail, drive you home when you had a little too much and shut down the shenanigans when they got way out of hand. This pretty much continued to the present day. Doreen could have a party in a phone booth without a dime.

Doreen was devoted to her faith. Her funeral mass will be December 20 at IHM 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803. Stop by early, say 12:00 to meet with the family, view many of the collage books and reminisce. The Mass will begin at 1:00. Don’t throw your money at flowers: instead, St. Joes Univ. Alumni, 5600 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131 & Padua Academy, 905 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19806. On behalf of her Mom Roseann, brother Frank and brother Kevin, we look forward to seeing you.

Condolences

Arlene Collins lit a candle and writes,
My heart goes out to family and friends of Doreen Webb. I had only been in the presence of Doreen a few times but each time she made me feel like I was an old friend. I will always remember her as the fairest, uncomplicated and down to earth woman I knew. Everyone was an equal in Doreen’s eyes and I knew that from the first time I met her. Doreen will be missed by all.
