Deborah May Wilson

Deborah M. Wilson (Spitelle), 67 years old of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was the daughter of Joan B. Dwyer (Moyle) and Reese Wilson and her stepfather Joseph Dwyer who all have preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother Stephen E. Dwyer, her dear uncles Albert Westerside, Louis “Woody” Moyle and her cousin Kenneth Westerside. She leaves behind her beloved aunt Violet Westerside (Moyle) and cousin, Cynthia Kemske (Westerside) who was like a sister to Deborah.

Deborah grew up in Wilmington, DE where she graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1967. She met her then future husband, Don Spitelle, in 1967 at the Hotel DuPont Theater while attending a musical play.

She attended college at Salisbury State Teacher College then transferred to Goldey-Beacom College. While attending college, Don proposed to her and they were wed in the fall of 1968.

Their family would grow with the birth of their three children, Wendy L. Hess (Spitelle) of Wilmington, DE born in 1970; Rodney S. Spitelle of Wilmington, DE born 1971; and Edward S. Spitelle of Perryville, MD born in 1974.

Then, in the spring of 1992, Deborah would step into her new role as a grandmom. She now leaves behind ten beautiful grandchildren (7 granddaughters and 3 grandsons) whom she was very proud of and the first would be her granddaughter Christian, then would be as follows in birth order, Alexa, Courtney, Hannah, Sicily, Talia, Aaron, Noah, Joshua and the newest addition being Kenzlee.

Deborah was dedicated to God and family. She was known as a sacrificial giver willing to give the shirt off her back. And she was known for her infectious smile, encouraging words and compassionate heart. She was faithful in prayer and the study of God’s Word as she went into all the World and shared the message of Christ with anyone who would listen.

Deborah will be greatly missed by family, friends, neighbors and her church family alike!
