Cara Carroccia, age 55, of Philadelphia, PA, died on July 3, 2017 after a long illness.
She was born in Wilmington, DE and graduated from Archmere Academy. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Architecture from the University of Virginia. She was self-employed and brought her love of history to her many projects. In 2010, she received the Design Award from the Delaware Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She was a member of the American Institute of Architects, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and Institute for Classical Studies and Classical America. She also brought her love of architecture to her students where she taught at the University of Notre Dame, Philadelphia University and Moore College of Arts and Design.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Francis and Naomi Ruth Wilhelm Carroccia. She is survived by her daughters, Annaliese and Caroline Bach of Philadelphia, PA; her sisters, Karen Smith of Seaford, DE and Deborah Rogers of Newark, DE; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many, many devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, the Ministry of Caring, or a charity of your choice in Cara’s name.
