Bettie Phillips

Bettie Marie Neckar Phillips was born January 29, 1922 and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, with her three siblings, Mary Jane, Bud, and Jay. Her father owned a Harley Davidson dealership in Terre Haute. She passed away on July 22, 2017.

Bettie was an independent woman, ahead of her time. After high school, she attended Indiana State University and secretarial school. Her secretarial and person-to-person skills were exceptional. She was beautiful and witty. Her sense of humor never left her. As a result, very unusual for a woman of her generation, she was offered a job away from her family in Tennessee. She took the job, and for over 35 years worked as a top secretary for the DuPont Company. Later, after a move to Delaware, she met and married a fellow DuPont employee, Brian Ross Phillips from Edinburgh, Scotland. Bettie and Brian would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on July 29, 2017.

Bettie was a devoted wife, mother to Kimberly Myers, and friend to many.

She will be missed and her memory remains in the hearts of those of us who knew her in life.
